You will also learn ways to communicate and reinforce these strategies to help your clients stay at home for longer.

Module: Overcoming Resistance to Wellness and Reablement

In this module, you will see what some of the barriers are to reablement approaches, and understand why some clients may resist a wellness and reablement approach. Module: Everything you do for me, you take from me

In this module, you will be asked, “How often do you think about the demands and benefits of activities you do every day?” There’s a lot of complexity involved in getting dressed, driving the car, writing a shopping list or just going for a walk for example. The ageing science is clear ā€“ healthy ageing is achieved by being physically, cognitively and socially active.

Reablement Essentials – Volume 1

Implementing wellness and reablement initiatives involves ‘doing with’ rather than ‘doing for’ clients. Have your clients ever resisted this approach? Have you ever been asked, ‘Why won’t you just do it for me?’

In Volume 1 of Reablement Essentials, we will introduce you to LifeCurveā„¢ and explain why we think it can facilitate partnerships between providers and clients and change their conversations about wellness and reablement.

You may have seen references to LifeCurveā„¢ in the 2023-24 Commonwealth Home Support Package (CHSP) Manual. At Keep Able, we share how this evidence-based tool can empower clients to reflect upon and actively participate in their healthy ageing journey.

Volume 1 is suitable for:

  • CHSP coordinators
  • Regional Assessment Service (RAS) assessors
  • Allied health professionals
  • Support workers

We also have an eLearning course available to introduce you to LifeCurveā„¢. You can register here: Introduction to LifeCurveā„¢. If this is your first experience with LifeCurveā„¢, we recommend completing this short eLearning course first before returning to supplement your knowledge and practice with this downloadable resource.
