How Keep Able helps you align with the Quality Standards

Standard 1: The Individual
This standard focuses on choice, independence, dignity, and personal goals.
Wellness and reablement is about working with older people to:
- Identify what matters to them
- Support them to maintain or regain independence
Explore the 'Wellness and reablement' tag on our Resources page to learn about the basics of this approach. This includes more information on the benefits of W&R for the individual or older person.

Standard 2: The Organisation
This standard focuses on workforce capability, quality systems, and continuous improvement. It requires organisations to provide ongoing training in W&R.
Keep Able supports organisations through free resources that build staff knowledge and confidence, including:
- Training – in the form of assessment videos, bitesize sessions, and eLearning modules
- Events – recorded forums and conferences on reablement topics
- Podcasts – with insights from industry experts and people with lived experience in reablement
You can also visit the 'Implementing W&R' tag on our Resources page for practical guidance on embedding W&R across services.

Standard 3: The Care and Services
This standard is about providing safe care that meets each person's needs, supporting their quality of life and independence.
Keep Able has tools and templates to help aged care teams set goals with older people and turn those goals into everyday support.
You can find these on our Resources page, under the tag 'Planning and goal setting'.

Standard 4: The Environment
This standard focuses on helping older people stay safe and independent at home.
Some low-risk assistive technology (AT) can help reduce risks and make everyday tasks easier.
Explore the 'Assistive technology' tag on our Resources page for practical advice and examples.

Standard 5: Clinical Care
This standard focuses on ensuring older people receive appropriate clinical support. It’s about supporting the person’s functional goals and overall wellbeing, not just managing health conditions.
Our 'Allied health hub' tag on the Resources page helps people working in aged care understand:
- The role of different allied health professionals in aged care
- When to refer

Standard 6: Food and Nutrition
This standard is about supporting older people to:
- Access nutritious food
- Make informed food choices
To support understanding, our Allied health hub includes resources to help you learn about the role of dietitians in aged care.
We also have resources to help you identify assistive technology to support your client in the kitchen. Some Low-cost AT can support safer, easier meal preparation and greater independence at home.

Standard 7: The Residential Community
This standard is about helping older people feel connected in their aged care community.
Keep Able focuses on supporting people to age well at home. However, many of our resources can also be used in residential aged care.
W&R helps people stay active, independent, and involved in daily life. This can help older people stay connected to their community, wherever they live.
Turning standards into action
The strengthened Quality Standards guide good aged care. Keep Able helps you put them into practice with practical tools and training.
Our wellness and reablement resources help people working in aged care build their skills. This helps them support older people to keep doing what matters to them.
